BGI Group Showcases Cutting-Edge Technologies and Applications at Third China International Supply Chain Expo

BGI Group made a resounding impact at the third China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) this week, unveiling a suite of new technologies and applications designed to advance life sciences and benefit global public health. The event, held in Beijing from July 16 to 20, is the world’s first national-level expo dedicated to supply chain innovation, aiming to build a global cooperation platform linking enterprises, research, and industry.

BGI Group showcases cutting-edge technologies and applications at the third China International Supply Chain Expo.

At this year’s expo, BGI Group showcased how its innovations are democratizing access to life sciences. From AI-driven health management platforms to agricultural breakthroughs, BGI Group’s exhibit highlighted how supply chain and downstream applications directly impact public health, nutrition, and sustainability.

Human health remains one of the core focuses for BGI. The company unveiled a series of consumer-oriented genetic testing products, spanning reproductive health, cancer prevention, chronic disease management, and infectious disease screening. These services, available via digital platforms, empower individuals to manage their health across the entire lifespan.

To make precision health management more accessible, BGI introduced a new precision health management model. This model integrates conventional diagnostics - such as blood, urine, and feces testing, as well as imaging and endoscopy - with multi-omics data, including genomics, metabolomics, proteomics, and wearable device monitoring. This approach results in a more holistic and quantifiable health assessment system.

BGI highlighted its high-throughput, AI-driven gene testing solution for pathogen, genetic disease, cancer, and more. By integrating standardized workflows, AI analytics, and local infrastructure, BGI is helping expand access to precision medicine and public health for more people.

Expo visitors also experienced BGI’s new interactive health management platform, powered by AI. The system provides personal health assessments, biological age evaluations, disease risk predictions, and customized health recommendations - making advanced genomic insights understandable and actionable for everyone.

Furthermore, BGI presented its probiotic product line, which is tailored to individual needs based on its extensive gut microbiome research and technology.

BGI also introduced a new single-cell transcriptomics and AI-powered immunomics evaluation product. This tool can accurately assess users’ immune age, immune cell composition, and function. The resulting quantifiable insights into immune aging will enable individuals to make targeted interventions and improvements.

In addition, BGI introduced, for the first time at CISCE, its coffee metabolism genetic testing product. This innovative service helps consumers assess their sensitivity to caffeine's stimulant effects and their caffeine metabolism capacity. With this information, users receive personalized coffee consumption advice, helping them avoid health risks associated with excessive caffeine intake.

Recognizing the rapid growth of the pet community, BGI is highlighted its pet genetic testing products at the expo. These tests offer precise insights into pets’ DNA, providing breed and lineage analysis, genetic disease risk assessment, breeding advice, and behavioral analysis. This empowers pet owners with scientific guidance for pet care and redefines approaches to pet health management.

Shifting to food security, BGI Group showcased cutting-edge work in agricultural micro-ecology, desert planting systems, and perennial crop development. Standout products included perennial rice, Ethiopian coffee products, and microbial fertilizers. BGI’s microbial fertilizers, dubbed “probiotics for crops,” promote root growth, disease resistance, and higher yields. Field trials in northern China showed soybean yields increasing by 8.9%-15.4% and rice by 8.2%-12.8% when using these fertilizers.

BGI Group’s research prowess was also on full display. At the expo, BGI displayed its proprietary Stereo-seq spatial transcriptomics technology and related research achievements. In the past month alone, five BGI-led research published in top journals, driving breakthroughs in brain science, disease mechanisms, organ development, and evolutionary genetics. As of June 2025, the group has topped the Nature Index for Asia-Pacific biological sciences corporate institutions for 10 consecutive years, with 5,686 research papers published.

Since the first CISCE, BGI Group has embraced the event as a platform to present its solutions to global life sciences challenges. Looking ahead, BGI will deepen industry collaboration, drive transformative innovation, and continue making genomics accessible for all.
